Traffic Violations
At Rebenack, Aronow & Mascolo we aggressively defend the rights of drivers who have been issued a traffic violation in New Jersey. The consequences of being cited for a traffic violation include penalties and fines, higher auto insurance premiums and suspension of your driver’s license. What are sometimes considered “minor” traffic offenses can lead to costly fines and New Jersey DMV driving points. If you are convicted of a moving violation, the New Jersey DMV will penalize you by adding points to your driving record. Hiring an experienced attorney familiar with New Jersey traffic laws can assist in minimizing the consequences resulting from conviction of a traffic violation, including reducing or eliminating fines and motor vehicle points. Our attorneys represent drivers charged with traffic violations in Municipal Courts throughout the State of New Jersey .
Our attorneys at RAM Law have extensive experience in representing individuals charged with the following traffic violations:
- Drunk Driving: DWI/DUI
- Speeding
- Reckless Driving
- Careless Driving
- Driving with a Suspended License
- Driving Without Insurance
- Tailgating
- Improper Passing
- Failure to Observe Traffic Lanes
New Jersey Point System
If a motorist is found guilty of a moving violation in New Jersey, the violation is reported to the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Accumulation of a certain number of points within a given period of time results in suspension or revocation of the motorist’s license.
- If a driver accumulates six or more points within three years on your current driving record, he or she will be assessed a surcharge of $150 plus $25 for each additional point.
- If a driver accumulates 12 or more points on his or her current driving record, the driver’s license will be suspended.
Accumulation of points on a driver’s license may also significantly increase automobile insurance
premiums. Although the DMV keeps a permanent record of all the points accumulated, it is possible to earn point deductions by remaining violation and suspension free for one year or by taking qualified driving courses approved by the DMV.
At RAM Law we treat each case as if it may have a significant impact on your driving privileges. We negotiate persuasively with municipal prosecutors and fight to help you reduce fines, driving points, or avoid a traffic violation conviction altogether. It is our policy to provide personalized service and straightforward advise to help you make a well-informed decision about how to approach your ticket.
